
Tulsa MLK Scholarship Applicant Information
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Society, Inc. (MLK) for the past 20 years has awarded
scholarships to our students. For 2025, MLK will award the following scholarships:
1. $3,500 Servant Leader
2. $2,500 Change Maker
3. $1,500 Mountain of Hope
4. $1,500 Drum Major for Justice
5. $1,000 Beloved Community (3 scholarships)
The application deadline is Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Scholarship recipients will be notified by June 27, 2025. Scholarships will be distributed upon receipt after validation of enrollment in a post-secondary education institution. The deadline for post-secondary education institution enrollment is August 1, 2025, or the scholarship will be forfeited.
Applications will be considered and judged by an independent panel and final selections will be made by the MLK Commemoration Society Board of Directors based on the following criteria:
Required Components of the Digital Portfolio:
1- A minimum of a 2.50 grade point average (GPA)
2 - Introduction – “All About Me”
a) Photo(s)
b) Honors and Awards / Community Service
c) School involvement/Work Experience
*Include activity/club/work experience; length of time; role in the activity, club, employment
d) Hobbies
e) Prompt Response (2 Minutes)
f) “Why Me” (2 Minutes)
Sell yourself! Why should you be awarded the scholarship?
Include goals and how the scholarship will benefit you.
g) Reference Video (2 Minutes)
How to Apply:
1 - Read all Required Components completely and thoroughly
2 - Submit an official copy of your transcript – 1st Semester of 2024-2-25 schoolyear
3 - Submit a Digital Portfolio by December 13, 2024 - No exceptions
4 - Include a video recommendation/reference
